Job Description

Overview:

LimbArt is seeking a talented Business Design Technician with at least 2 years of experience to join our design and production team. As a Design Technician at LimbArt, you will play a crucial role in translating design concepts into functional prototypes and production-ready designs, particularly within the field of prosthetics and orthotics. You will collaborate with engineers, designers, and production teams to ensure that LimbArt’s products meet high-quality standards while supporting the needs of our clients.
Key Responsibilities:

Design Implementation: Collaborate with the design team to translate design concepts into production-ready blueprints, technical drawings, and prototypes. Ensure that designs meet both functional and aesthetic requirements.

Prototyping & Modeling: Create accurate 3D models and physical prototypes using CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software and other tools. Assist in the prototyping phase to refine designs and troubleshoot technical issues.

Materials & Manufacturing: Select appropriate materials based on the project’s design specifications and client requirements. Work closely with the production team to ensure that materials are processed and assembled correctly.

Quality Assurance: Ensure all designs are created to meet LimbArt’s high-quality standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO standards). Conduct rigorous testing and quality checks on prototypes and finished products.

Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with engineers, product managers, and other departments to ensure alignment on design specifications, manufacturing capabilities, and project timelines.

Technical Drawings & Documentation: Create detailed technical drawings, CAD files, and assembly instructions to ensure smooth transitions from design to production. Maintain clear and up-to-date documentation on design iterations and specifications.

Product Customization: Assist in the design and customization of prosthetics and orthotics products based on individual client needs. Work with the healthcare and medical teams to ensure proper fit and functionality.

Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving: Identify and resolve any design or production issues, whether related to materials, manufacturing processes, or functionality. Proactively recommend design improvements to enhance product performance.

Research & Development: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and new materials that could improve LimbArt’s products and processes. Contribute to the R&D efforts by testing new ideas and integrating innovative technologies into product designs.

Client Interaction: Occasionally communicate with clients to discuss design specifications, preferences, and customization options. Provide technical assistance and recommendations as needed.

Skills & Qualifications:

Design Software Proficiency: Strong experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Rhino, or similar tools. Ability to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings.

Manufacturing Knowledge: Familiarity with manufacturing processes, including 3D printing, CNC machining, injection molding, and other prototyping techniques.

Materials Knowledge: Understanding of various materials, including metals, plastics, composites, and other industry-specific materials, and how they interact with design and manufacturing processes.

Attention to Detail: High level of precision and attention to detail when creating technical drawings, prototypes, and ensuring design accuracy.

Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, especially when dealing with design challenges or technical issues.

Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical team members and clients.

Teamwork & Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with engineers, designers, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders.

Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, ensuring timely delivery and meeting project goals while maintaining high-quality standards.

Quality Assurance: Understanding of industry-specific standards for quality assurance and product testing. Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements in the medical device field is a plus.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a design technician or engineering role, preferably in medical device design, prosthetics, orthotics, or a related field.

Hands-on experience with prototyping, 3D modeling, and design software.

Experience working with cross-functional teams to bring design concepts to life, ensuring they meet functional, aesthetic, and quality standards.
