Job Overview:

As a Waiter/Waitress at The Harwood Arms, you will play an integral role in providing a welcoming and efficient dining experience for our guests. You will be responsible for taking orders, serving food and drinks, and ensuring that guests enjoy their time in the restaurant. A key part of the role will involve promoting and serving our signature Scotch Eggs, ensuring that guests experience the exceptional quality and flavors that make this dish so special.

Key Responsibilities:

Guest Service: Greet and welcome guests in a friendly, professional manner, making them feel comfortable and valued throughout their dining experience.

Order Taking: Accurately take food and drink orders from guests, ensuring that all requests are clearly understood and communicated to the kitchen and bar.

Menu Knowledge: Possess a good understanding of the menu, especially the ingredients and preparation of the famous Scotch Eggs, to effectively guide guests and make recommendations.

Food & Beverage Service: Serve food and beverages to guests efficiently and professionally, ensuring the correct order is delivered with attention to detail.

Guest Engagement: Anticipate guests’ needs and ensure they have an enjoyable experience, handling any concerns or requests promptly and politely.

Table Maintenance: Keep tables clean and clear, ensuring the dining area is well-organized and the environment is always welcoming for guests.

Teamwork: Work closely with other waitstaff, kitchen, and bar teams to ensure smooth and efficient service throughout the shift.

Health & Safety Compliance: Follow food safety, health, and hygiene standards at all times, ensuring a safe and clean environment for guests and staff.

Upselling: Promote special dishes, drinks, and the Scotch Eggs to enhance the guest experience and increase sales.

Payment Handling: Accurately process payments and ensure guests receive their bills in a timely and courteous manner.

Skills & Qualifications:

Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role (restaurant, pub, or fine dining) is required.

Customer Service Excellence: A passion for delivering exceptional customer service with a friendly and approachable demeanor.

Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with guests and team members.

Menu Knowledge: Ability to learn and retain knowledge of the menu, including ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods, especially for signature dishes like Scotch Eggs.

Team Player: Ability to work well as part of a team, maintaining a cooperative and positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.

Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, ensuring that orders are accurate, food is served correctly, and the dining environment is maintained to a high standard.

Time Management: Ability to handle multiple tables and tasks efficiently, especially during peak hours.

Physical Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for long periods, carry trays, and lift heavy items if necessary.

Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required in the hospitality industry.
