Job Description

Overview:

Crunch Accounting is seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and experienced Business Accountant with at least 2 years of experience to join our growing team. As a Business Accountant, you will play a key role in managing financial transactions, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and providing insightful financial guidance to clients. You’ll work closely with business owners and stakeholders to ensure the accuracy of financial records, assist in preparing financial reports, and contribute to strategic decision-making processes.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for clients, ensuring all transactions are recorded properly and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Management Accounts: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts for clients, providing clear and concise financial reports that outline business performance.

Tax Preparation & Filing: Assist in the preparation of tax returns, ensuring compliance with current tax laws, and help clients minimize their tax liabilities. Ensure that all deadlines are met for VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax, and other tax-related filings.

Bank Reconciliations: Reconcile client bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial transactions to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.

Financial Analysis & Reporting: Conduct financial analysis for clients, providing insights into cash flow, profitability, and cost management. Offer advice on budgeting and financial planning to support business growth and decision-making.

Accounts Payable & Receivable: Manage and oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely payments to suppliers and receipt of payments from clients.

Client Liaison: Communicate regularly with clients to answer financial queries, provide advice, and offer guidance on business decisions. Develop strong working relationships and ensure excellent client service.

Financial Forecasting: Assist in preparing financial forecasts and projections to help clients plan for growth, investment, and cash flow management.

Compliance & Regulation: Ensure clients remain in compliance with relevant accounting regulations and standards, including preparing for audits and liaising with external auditors when necessary.

Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to improve internal accounting processes and enhance efficiency, contributing to a high-quality service for clients.

Skills & Qualifications:

Accounting Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role, preferably within a business or firm environment. Experience with SMEs or start-ups is a plus.

Qualified or Part-Qualified: AAT qualification or part-qualified ACCA, CIMA, or ACA is highly preferred. If not fully qualified, a strong desire to pursue further qualifications is expected.

Software Proficiency: Experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or other accounting packages is essential. Knowledge of payroll software or CRM tools is a plus.

Tax Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of UK tax laws, VAT, PAYE, and corporation tax regulations. Experience with preparing and filing tax returns is required.

Financial Analysis Skills: Strong analytical and financial reporting skills, with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights.

Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing financial data, ensuring compliance, and producing financial reports.

Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts in simple terms to clients.

Client-Focused: Strong relationship-building skills, with a passion for providing excellent customer service and supporting clients with their financial needs.

Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all accounting tasks.

Experience:

Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or finance, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality accounting services.

Experience in preparing management accounts, tax returns, financial reporting, and providing financial advice.

Experience with bookkeeping, VAT returns, and financial statements.
