Job Overview:

As a Cook at The Black Pig, you will be an essential part of our kitchen team, responsible for preparing and cooking delicious dishes that reflect our commitment to quality and flavor. You will work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure the efficient operation of the kitchen, from food preparation to the final plating of dishes. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate cook looking to showcase their skills in a busy, dynamic kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation: Prepare ingredients, sauces, and dishes according to the menu, ensuring quality and consistency in every dish.

Cooking: Cook meals to a high standard, maintaining portion control and presentation while ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are met.

Menu Support: Work with the Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure all menu items are prepared and served according to the restaurant’s quality standards.

Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic kitchen environment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Stock Management: Assist with stock rotation, inventory management, and ordering supplies as necessary to ensure the kitchen is well-stocked and operational.

Team Collaboration: Work as part of a team, communicating effectively with kitchen staff and front-of-house team to ensure smooth service and timely food delivery.

Special Dietary Needs: Prepare special dietary options or modifications based on customer requests (e.g., vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free).

Quality Control: Monitor and ensure the quality and consistency of all dishes prepared, maintaining high standards of taste, presentation, and cleanliness.

Time Management: Ensure timely preparation and cooking of meals, coordinating with other kitchen staff to meet service demands during busy periods.

Skills & Qualifications:

Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a professional kitchen or as a cook is required.

Cooking Skills: A strong understanding of cooking techniques and the ability to prepare dishes with precision and attention to detail.

Food Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of food hygiene, safety standards, and proper handling of food in accordance with health regulations.

Teamwork: Ability to work well as part of a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment, maintaining clear communication and coordination with colleagues.

Time Management: Ability to work efficiently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks during busy service times.

Creativity: A passion for food and an interest in creating new dishes or adding personal flair to existing recipes.

Attention to Detail: High attention to detail, ensuring that dishes are consistently well-prepared and meet the restaurant’s high standards.

Adaptability: Ability to handle changing circumstances, such as customer requests or changes in the menu, with a positive attitude and flexibility.
