Job Description

Job Overview:

As a Housekeeper at The Mitre Hotel, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and organization throughout the hotel. You will play an essential role in ensuring that our guests enjoy a comfortable and enjoyable stay. This includes cleaning guest rooms, public areas, and other facilities, as well as ensuring that all housekeeping tasks are completed efficiently and to the hotel’s exceptional standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Room Cleaning: Clean and maintain guest rooms to the highest standard, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, and replenishing amenities.

Bathroom Maintenance: Thoroughly clean and sanitize guest bathrooms, including toilets, showers, sinks, mirrors, and floors, ensuring they are spotless and well-stocked with supplies.

Public Area Cleaning: Maintain cleanliness in public areas of the hotel, such as the lobby, corridors, staircases, and restrooms, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for guests.

Laundry Management: Sort, wash, and fold laundry items such as towels, bed linens, and uniforms, ensuring they are clean, fresh, and properly stored.

Inventory Management: Monitor and report any shortages in housekeeping supplies (e.g., toiletries, cleaning products, linens) to ensure stock levels are maintained.

Attention to Detail: Ensure all rooms and public areas are presented to a high standard, checking for any missed areas, stains, or maintenance issues, and reporting them to the supervisor.

Guest Requests: Respond promptly to guest requests for extra amenities (e.g., towels, pillows) and deliver them in a timely and courteous manner.

Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety guidelines, including safe handling and disposal of cleaning materials, and ensuring the hotel meets all hygiene standards.

Communication: Work closely with the front desk and maintenance teams to ensure room availability and that any maintenance issues are addressed quickly.

Work Area Organization: Ensure that cleaning equipment and supplies are well-organized and stored appropriately when not in use.

Skills & Qualifications:

Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience in a housekeeping role within a hotel, boutique establishment, or similar hospitality environment is required.

Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail in all areas of housekeeping, ensuring rooms and public spaces meet the hotel’s high standards of cleanliness and presentation.

Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, lifting, and walking for extended periods of time, as well as handling cleaning equipment.

Time Management: Ability to work efficiently and manage time effectively to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a busy environment.

Teamwork: Ability to work well as part of a team, supporting colleagues and maintaining a positive working atmosphere.

Communication Skills: Good communication skills to interact with guests and other team members, ensuring excellent service and addressing any issues that may arise.

Discretion and Professionalism: A high level of professionalism and discretion when interacting with guests and handling private information.

Health & Safety Awareness: Understanding of and adherence to health and safety practices, including safe handling of cleaning chemicals and waste management.
